Heart Reef is found in Hardy Reef which is part of the Great Barrier Reef off the Whitsunday coast in North Queensland, Australia. It is a very famous icon and visited by hundreds of thousands of people every year.
Surprisingly it is very small!
I love painting Heart Reef. There are so many ways in which it can be interpreted. This one is executed in a slightly folksy style.

DESCRIPTION
Sailboats on the Water is a charming little painting made up of little collage pieces of cartridge paper.
The papers are created first by painting with acrylic paint, with added pencil marks. Then they are randomly cut up and placed on the blue water, sky background.
From there, the painting simply develops as a series of responses from the colours and shapes.
